Stress/Rest and the Intersect with Food Choices, Health, and Longevity

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
San Ramon Libraries - San Ramon
Large 2nd Floor Meeting Room
When you hear the word stress, what comes to mind?  Is there a difference between types of stressors, and how do they interact with our health? What is considered "rest," and why is this important?

In this program, Dr. Julita Baker will share a scientific approach to thinking about the stress response, food choice, and health. We will delve into the research surrounding the above questions, and leave the presentation with pragmatic tips to utilizing the stress response in a way that is beneficial to our long term health.

Julita received a Ph.D. from University of California, Davis in Nutritional Biology after shifting from Microbiology working in the Microbial Ecology Program at the Joint Genome Institute. She has designed and taught courses at Stanford University, and is also a nutrition advisor & speaker for organizations, start-ups, and entrepreneurs . She collaborates, deconstructs complex nutritional and behavioral science, and translates research into actionable tools.
